Frequently Asked Questions

  • Great question! Yes, you can still benefit from therapy. Choosing to go to therapy does not mean that something is wrong with you or that your life is out of control. It simply means that you recognize that you could benefit from an unbiased professional who can help you process what you have or are experiencing and equip you to be a healthier, happier, more free version of yourself.

  • The length of therapy will depend on what you aim to get from the therapeutic relationship. While the average length of treatment is eight sessions, the American Psychological Association says that 15-20 sessions is ideal for 50% of people.

  • In your initial session we will identify your goal(s) for therapy and assess where you are in relation to them. As we continue to meet, we will reflect together to determine if we’re moving in the right direction or if the goal(s) has changed.

  • Many people begin to feel better after their second or third session. It can be tempting to stop at that time, but I encourage you to continue pressing forward to give yourself time to make some real, lasting change toward your ideal vision of precious freedom.

  • My therapeutic style is eclectic because it is tailored to meet the needs of each individual client. I believe the client is the expert on their life, not me. I act a co-sojourner helping you discover new/better ways of thinking/operating along your journey to precious freedom. As for techniques, I like to take a strengths-based, solution-focused, narrative approach.

  • No, I will not prescribe medication because I am not licensed to do so. However, if it seems that medication could be a beneficial supplement to talk therapy, I can provide you with referrals to other providers.

  • Precious Freedom Mental Health and Wellness does not take insurance because we are a private pay practice. However, I’ve partnered with Mentaya, a service that streamlines getting reimbursed for your therapy sessions through out-of-network benefits.

    Mentaya is perfect if you:

    • Have out-of-network benefits

    • Feel overwhelmed by superbills and insurance

    • Have submitted superbills but failed to get any reimbursement

    • Simply want to skip the hassle of paperwork!

    Here's how it works:

    1. Sign up for Mentaya here.

    2. I will enter your sessions into the platform.

    3. Mentaya submits the claim and handles any insurance follow-up.

    4. You get reimbursed by insurance!

It's risk-free: They guarantee claims are successfully submitted, or a full refund of their fees.

  • Payment is due at the time of each session. I accept all major credit cards for payment.

  • Yes, but only for a limited number of clients at a time. If the session rate seems that it may be a burden to you we can discuss options that may be available to you.
